Income Inequality is a major problem that has been going on in America for decades. Many people feel that it barely exists today, but those people are very uneducated and don’t really care about the huge problem in front of them the many people that feel that way are highly uneducated, and seem to not really care about which has been gradually increasing instead of decreasing. Unfortunately, there’s not much that can be done, only of course if the poor class of people decide to actually educate themselves and get a higher education. One says poor class, simply because that’s how they’re classified. There are five types of levels that Americans are classified as, and they are: Upper Class, Upper Middle Class, Middle Class, Working Class, Poor. The highest percentage of Americans fall in the Poor department, and it has been that way for decades, and will continue to be that way for decades to come. Ever person on earth dreams of getting that one good job that can keep them happy and that pays well so that they can take care of their family and other generations to come. Morality can be defined as the distinction between what is right and wrong or what is good and bad. Although, moral reasoning depends on culture which makes it difficult to define. Although researching of moral development goes as far back as Socrates, there are two psychologists that studied morality in depth and they are Lawrence Kohlberg and Jean Piaget. Jean Piaget was a cognitive developmental psychologists spending most of his time working with children and adolescents, including his own. Although, Piaget’s observation of moral development wasn’t in depth like Kohlberg, he allowed for a basic understanding. He believed that moral development occurred in stages. Piaget strongly believed in education and thought interaction in a education setting allowed children maximum potential in cognitive development. Piaget believed in many things, but when it came to moral development there were only two basic principles. The first principle was that children develop moral ideas in stages and could not skip stages, although movement from one stage to the other could vary in length. Lastly he believed that children create their own perception of their world, including whether their actions enforce what is morally right or wrong. â€Å"Piaget’s ideas of moral realism and morality of cooperation play a role in Kohlberg’s theory. Children in Piaget’s stage of moral realism believe that rules are absolute and can’t be changed. Punishment should be determined by how much damage is done, and the intention of the child is not taken into account. For example, a child operating in the stage of moral realism would believe that a child who accidentally breaks three cups should be punished more than a child who breaks one cup on purpose. Eventually, both the damage done and the intention of the offender in a given moral dilemma are considered in this stage of moral development. † Lawrence Kohlberg studied moral development in depth and that is what he is most commonly known for. Although his basic ideas and principles originated from the ideas of Piaget, Kohlberg did an in depth study of the basics of morality and how a child or adolescents move from one stage to the next. Kolberg had developed six stages of moral development. All of the stages were grouped into three levels of sub categories. Stages one and two are pre-conventional judgment and moral development. Stages three and four are conventional judgment. Lastly, stages are five and six are post conventional. When children are born Kolberg believes that they have no morals and as they grow and learn, morals begin to form. The pre-conventional level is where morality begins. This is the basis of moral judgment. The moral values here in this stage are external. Stage one is based on obedience and punishment. If a child is punished they will try and avoid the situation knowing that they will be punished so that act is known as wrong to the children. Stage two is a slightly more complex stage. Children are now egocentric and are able to exchange thoughts and ideas. Both male and females hold certain roles and have different beliefs. The conventional level â€Å"Those who reason in a conventional way judge the morality of actions by comparing them to society’s views and expectations. Conventional morality is characterized by an acceptance of society’s conventions concerning right and wrong. At this level an individual obeys rules and follows society’s norms even when there are no consequences for obedience or disobedience. Adherence to rules and conventions is somewhat rigid, however, and a rule’s appropriateness or fairness is seldom questioned â€Å". Stage three is where children are labeled. In this stage children are labeled either good or bad. Children try and please others for acceptance and approval. For example, during the Christmas holiday season children try their hardest to be good so Santa will come and bring them Christmas presents. Where as if they are bad they will receive coal. Stage four is where authority comes in and plays a highly important role. Children learn that authority figures are the ones who control and maintain order. Also they try and live up to others expectations instead of their own. The post conventional level is where moral values allow adolescents and adults to distinguish the difference between societies view of right and wrong and the views of their individual views. Most people live by these views of right and wrong. In stage five the world is known as being able to hold their own opinions and views. Stage six is using your own opinions and applying them. For instance choosing to use logic and consistency or the feeling of your own ethics to make understandable and logical decisions. While a child grows the formation of morality is highly important. Alcoholics, drug addicts and murderers might suffer from disturbed moral thoughts which might cause an error in their beliefs of right and wrong. For instance, a murderer who grew up in an abusive home atmosphere might think it is okay to be abusive and hurt other people. In case any natural disaster strikes this very old town then the entire population will be in danger of not only the flood water creating havoc but also the aftermath spread of epidemics and disruption of livelihood of the populations and these are also areas of concern for any disaster management team(mapsofindia, 2016). This city is very well connected with other parts of India by a very extensive set of railway lines and roadways. There are two distributaries of the river Ganges, Varuna and Assi (the name Varanasi came out of the conjunction of these two small rivulets) which flows beside Varanasi. These two rivers, one of which has silted very badly could add to the woes of the people since the outlets for the waters of Ganges have been constricted. Being located in the Indo Gangetic plains the prospects of flood has always remained in this area(Hinduism, 2016). Overview of Event: As the rains intensified the water in the river Ganges started swelling. The imminent danger was seen by the people but they firmly believed that Lord Shiva, the worshipped deity of this pilgrim town, being their protector no natural disaster could ever cause any concern. Further, since this city as per Mark Twain is older than history and had survived the onslaught of time, it is firmly believed that this place is protected by the Lord himself. Thus there was an anticipated delay in the process of evacuating the people. The activity would start with the evacuation of the people but at the same time all efforts were made to ensure that loss of property is also minimized. The rich and very immaculate industries of silk work, music, education and cultural heritage were to be protected. Thus the silk weavers of Varanasi, the seats of learning which includes a rich and rare collection of ancient texts of the Hindu philosophers and the very rare manuscripts were all in need of protection( NdTv, 2016). The flood, which was imminent, will not only help to replenish the eroded soil but will also imply a large contamination of the drinking water supply within the city. The roads will get damaged and the railway system will also be put into jeopardy. Thus the details of the disaster plan will have to be drawn up with the interests of all the stakeholders. Response Plan to the Event: The response plan will have to be of various priorities. While at the top of the priority list will be the evacuation of the people from the low lying areas yet the importance of protecting the properties of the people will be a close second. In order to ensure that people are evacuated to a safer place all possible means of transport will be summoned up to shift the people to safer places. The temporary shelters will be in the school and college buildings of the nearby areas where people will be safe from the flood waters and yet not be required to move long distances to protect themselves(Verma, 2016). Help for shifting of the people to safer destinations will have to be supervised by the local administration and no help from the India Army will be sought for this specific purpose. After the deluge converts itself into a disaster the help of the Indian Army personnel will be sought for handling the evacuation of the people who get marooned in the floods. Therefore the structured disaster management plan for the flooding of Varanasi would be contemplated under the following headings: People: The people mainly the ladies and children will have to be moved out to safer places at a distance from the heart of the city. Just shifting the people out from Varanasi would be only the tip of the ice-berg. It will be necessary to provide food and potable water to these people for the time they are sheltered from the flood waters in their new camps inside school building and college buildings. Thus it will be necessary to collect the maximum amount of food grains, fuel for cooking their food and arrangements for generating potable water which will have to be rationed very rigidly. Thus these items will have to be procured and stored at each of the relief centres. Since the issue of potable water is a very big issue during any flood situation the collection of potable water in tanks and storing them suitably is a very vital issue. To conserve resources each individual will be provided just two meals and two litres of potable water every day. Since storing of these two essential commo dities will not be possible all that fast it will be necessary to move food and potable water by small manually operated boats which will be obtained from the army. Wherever the water is deep the boats which ply on the river Ganges will be pressed into service. The boats which ferry passengers and tourists across the Ganges during normal times will be requisitioned to ferry essential commodities to various camps where the water level is sufficient to permit their movement(Indianrailways, 2016). Medical Facilities: The flood water will certainly engulf many sick people who will need medical attention. In order to ensure that flood affected people get proper and adequate medical attention doctors from all the state general hospitals will be summoned to attend to the flood affected population. This will have to be done cautiously since the state hospitals and health centres should not be left to suffer for want of medical attention. However, the doctors will be put on alert and will be told to attend duty at any place they are asked to by the disaster management team. Doctors from the armed forces will also be requested for participating in the efforts made by the disaster management team. Care would be taken to ensure that no doctor is asked to work for more than twelve hours at a stretch since that would be creating health hazards for the medical professionals(Tiwari, 2016). Property: Having firmed up the action plan for handling with the people and their medical needs the next important job is to ensure that loss to the properties of the people and the nation is minimized. The very old and rare manuscripts of the yesteryears which are available at Varanasi will have to be shifted to some safe place like a tall buildings upper floors so that the rain water is not able to damage these historical relics. There is the very old and respectable Banaras Hindu University (BHU) which is a seat of learning and the properties of BHU will need to be protected from damage. With the flooding of the town of Varanasi it is expected that the power supply will be disrupted very badly and hence alternate sources of power from generators will have to be arranged for ensuring that the BHU is not all that badly affected(Economictimes, 2016). Power: The power supply to the township will have to be stopped as soon as flood water start entering the town since if the power is left flowing it may cause electrocution of some people which is best avoided since the facilities for meeting any eventuality will be suspended fully or partially. Thus only when the flood water starts receding may be within forty eight hours the first job will be to restore water and power supply to the areas which are not all that seriously affected by the floods. Post Flood Measures: After the flood waters recede the attention of the disaster management team will be on ensuring that no epidemics like cholera, typhoid, jaundice or any other water borne disease does not take an epidemic form. Hence, every action for disinfecting water bodies and other sources of water for consumption by the people mainly by the children are made fully infection and disease free so that the people do not suffer as the flood water recede. Having first and foremost treated the water supply the next step is to ensure that all roads which have been damaged by the floods are repaired immediately. Unless this is done life will not come back to normal and the life of people will be severely restricted by the damaged roads. Trade and industry also will not pick up momentum since the movement of goods will be slow and generally costly(Rediff, 2016). Recommendation for Future Response Plan: The plan for future will have to include certain salient features. First, the state should take the initiative for constructing concrete buildings, at least three stories high, for running their schools and colleges. It may be recalled that these school buildings which are usually three storied structures of concrete are best suited to provide shelters to people whose homes have been inundated by flood waters. Second, the administration will have to have more number of doctors available in the state run hospitals and health centres. This will have to be done by ensuring that no post of any medical personnel goes unmanned even for a day. While the number of doctors may be limited but the number of nursing and medical staff also is great help during such crisis situations(Firstpost, 2016). Third and perhaps the most important aspect of future disaster management at Varanasi would be to ensure that the two rivulets, Varun and Assi, are brought back to their previous condition so that the drainage of water through them during such flood situations is improved. This will ensure that the effects of flooding are much less intense both in terms of durations and volume. Conclusion: This historical and mythological town has withstood the test of time. The people of this place believe that no flood can wipe out Varanasi from the face of this earth. Time will show if they are correct but in the meanwhile disaster management concepts can be gainfully utilized to mitigate the loss of life and property of this holy Hindu town. The monster also enhances the portrayal of the isolation by admitting he is â€Å"desolate† to the reader making more straight-forward for the reader to identify with the monster and even Mary Shelley as all the characters are related to Shelley’s personal experiences during her childhood and adulthood. The form of the verb can give us some idea about who is performing the action, when the action is being performed, and the relation of the verb to other parts of the sentence. To better understand the concept of conjugation in Spanish, lets look at some conjugation forms in English and compare them with some Spanish forms. In the examples below, the English verbs are explained first, followed by the corresponding Spanish forms. If youre a beginner, dont worry for now about what terms like present tense, auxiliary verb and indicative mean. If you cant understand what they refer to by the examples given, you will learn them in your later studies. The Ebola virus disease is an epidemic that has returned to claim more lives than one can count. This virus was formerly known as the hemorrhagic fever. Given that I work in an Emergency Department, the usual encounters we have involves health problems. However, in the past months and last year, people that we encounter are those of with fever and flu. Some diseases were also frequent. Diseases that arouse were usually an effect of a downfall in body’s immune system. This has happened when the extreme changes in environmental climate took place. As a result of the fast growing effects of global warming, the weather has extreme changes within a day. The extreme cold and hot weather that occurs in twenty-four hours has a bad effect on body temperature. The tremendous  Ã‚   changes weaken the body since the type of climate that occurs does not match the survival qualifications of human. In order to be involved in this issue, I suggest that the Emergency Department lead a program awareness to fight global warming, deal with its effects, and how to be healthy during the experience of its effects. On the other hand, I can be of help to if I encourage friends and families to practice activities or home choirs that will help lessen climate change. Like, use products with Energy Star seal, this is product lessen greenhouse effect and air pollution. Also, saving energy thru maintenance and cleaning of heating and cooling equipments used in our homes. I can also save energy by using green power, where the energy is from the sun and the wind. Frugality not just in money can help deal with climate change. For example, recycling materials we use at home   and buying new stuff as a product of recycling. Another way to conserve energy is by taking public transportation in routinely going to work or school. Or maintaining the efficiency of your car so it will not emit high amounts of greenhouse emissions. In offices, power management features should be discussed with the employees especially those workers who operate machineries. Which in this case makes him cold hearted and selfish human being who clearly does not have his priorities straight. This came as a big surprise to me after I had read how good of a friend he was. The book is mostly about two men who have been brought together again after their close friend dies.The way how Clive treats his friend differences a lot from how he reacted in the situation mentioned before. In fact he is there for his friend in every situation no matter how difficult it might be. â€Å"When Vernon was laid up with a rare viral infection of the spine, Clive visited almost every day, bringing books, music, videos and champagne†(Mclean 1998:43). This is one of many examples what Clive had done for his friend, without asking anything in return. It shows that he still cares and knows how to treat people but maybe Just close ones. On the other hand, he was still palpable of arranging his best friend's death and the other way around.The thing is, this part of the book cam e as a shock. He arranged the death of his best friend. That alone says something about him. He could be a self-centered and egotistic man. After having disagreed on a subject with Vernon and Vernon not taking his advice maybe he Just could not have let it go. Or he thought he was being a good friend and ending one's life because that was what he thought the one had wanted. In that case it would make him in some eyes loyal and committed. Clive had asked his friend to end his life if he would start to lose It.Yes, on one condition only: that you'd do the same for me. V. â€Å"(Mclean 1998:57) Maybe In Clime's eyes he was already losing It and he did what had to be done. In the end I think the book Is purposely ended with a mystery. It leaves a lot of questions about the characters as well.
